Theatre to offer workshop in set painting

The Willits Community Theatre will offer a five-week workshop on set painting, taught by veteran set painter Gretchen Moore,
on Sunday evenings in September.

The workshop will take place on five consecutive Sundays, at 6 p.m., beginning September 1 and running through September 29.
Cost of the workshop is $50.
 
 
In this workshop students will learn how to work with directors, use the tools of the trade, mix color and apply paint, shade painted objects to give them a three-dimensional look, safety, texture techniques and more. Students will also have the opportunity to work on the set of the upcoming play,
I and You.

Moore has been painting sets since she was a child in the 60s, when her mother designed and painted sets with the Contra Costa Civic Theatre in El Cerrito, California, and taught trade secrets to Gretchen. Since moving to Willits, Gretchen has painted the sets for many shows, including Harvey, Bus Stop, Lend Me a Tenor, The Dining Room, Angel of Chatham SquareArsenic and Old LaceThe Sunshine BoysThe Best Christmas Pageant EverClue, and Off the Map.
